5 Earthly Treasures Vegetarian Mutton Stew

Copy from other website :

The recipe for the 5 Earthly Treasures Vegetarian Mutton Stew originated from the Teochew province in China and is said to strengthen the spleen, nourish the liver and kidneys and replenish the body’s vital energy. In the stew, there is Ginseng, which boosts the body’s immune system; Gingko Nuts: which increases brain-power and relieves asthma and flu-related symptoms; Dried Tangerine Peels, which strengthens the spleen and stomach while discouraging indigestion; Red Dates, which builds up red blood cells; and Chinese Wolfberries, which protects the liver and improves eyesight.

And it tastes great too! My mind was blown away.

When I told my friend and her mother about this blog, they gladly assented to have the recipe posted online and shared with all our readers.

5 Earthly Treasures Vegetarian Mutton Stew (serves 6)

Fresh Ginseng (available at vegetable stalls) 2 pieces
Mock mutton (can be substituted with Chinese mushrooms) As appropriate

Red dates 12 pcs
Chinese yams 50g
Gingko nuts 20 pcs
Dried tangerine peel 1 whole piece

YUMEN (Downtown East)

FOOD :

Crispy Chicken Carrot Noodle — it is made of carrot juice with flour. noodle itself was ok, but the crispy chicken on it was good very crispy & was served hot :)

Seafood Ban Mian — this is very yummy :) , especially when you want something soupy, better than Century Square food culture Ban Mian. The noodle was thick & soup taste good with fresh prawns, squid & egg in it.

Bi-Colour Dumpling — This is also very yummy, i think it was made of fish, very crispy too. :)

Bacon Rolls : Not to my taste.. :(

Aloe Vera Drink : Big Bites of Aloe Vera..

Roselle Drink

Gelare (Downtown East)

My friends Went down to Gelare yesterday, for their delicious freshly baked waffles. It´s half price on every Tuesday at any Gelare outlets.

Usually the regular waffles, but yesterday he tried something else , the Chocolate Chip Waffle & Frutti Trutti Waffle.

The chocolate chip waffles was interesting and yummy. :)

Chocolate Chip Waffle - Belgium waffle stuffed with chocolate chips and topped with fresh cream & chocolate sauce. — must try :) — I topped this with chocolate overload & swiss chocolate caramel ice cream.. both very good :)

The Frutti Trutti Waffle is the same as the regular waffle only that it is topped with fruits for additional $0.20.– Boyfren topped this with praline (this very sweet) & cookie dough (yummy, he can feel the small cookie dough in the ice cream.. :) )

Frutti Trutti Waffle – Belgium waffle with peach & strawberry topped with fresh cream & chocolate sauce.

You can choose different types of sauces – chocolate, strawberry,,etc.. :) come try it now WOW

Pasta de Waraku

Pasta de Waraku recently opened at Changi Airport Terminal 2. A total Japanese dining experience with plastic display examples of their many dishes, friendly and well trained staff, their company policy on the wall etc.

The menu is very exclusive with pasta’s you have never seen before. We had a thin crust pizza and the crust was the thinnest I had ever seen. All together with two Asahi cost $22. try it ?

Hei Sushi (DownTown East)

It was my first time dining at Hei Sushi yesterday. Hei Sushi is under apexpal, which is a sister company of Sakae Sushi (not halal). Well now Muslims can enjoy Halal Sushi there, beside Ramen Ten.

Place has nice ambience & staff are friendly.

Prices are affordabe, $2.18++ for coloured plates, $6.88++ for red plate.

My favourite is the picture below, bit of spicy taste with the soft shell crab in the filling. The spicy tuna and salmon with avacado is also delicious

Heng Kee (Serangoon Garden) Mutton Soup

Heng Kee (Serangoon Garden) Mutton Soup

I am not a fan of mutton soup but when I was at Serangoon Gardens Food Center for dinner last Wednesday, I had the craving for something soupy and herbal. After browsing through the stalls, I finally settled for Heng Kee (Serangoon Garden) Mutton Soup.

I ordered a bowl of mutton noodle soup which costs $4. Topped with wolfberries, the herbal soup is sweet and savory and complements the noodles very well. The mutton pieces are meaty and tasty.

After trying Heng Kee (Serangoon Garden) mutton soup, I have my fair share of likes and dislikes. I like the herbal flavour of mutton soup but dislike the toughness of mutton. If you love mutton soup, Heng Kee (Serangoon Garden) mutton soup is certainly worthwhile to try.

Famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa

Famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa

This stall at Hong Lim Food Centre named Famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa sells both laksa and mee siam with prawns. Although I was fascinated with the idea of mee siam with prawns, I decided to try the laksa which it is famous for.

Somewhat similar to the famous Katong laksa, the flavorful gravy, though more diluted in consistency, is filled with the delightful fragrance of coconut milk and sweetness of dried shrimps. Definitely worthwhile for its price, a bowl of laksa which costs only $3, is topped with generous servings of sliced prawns and fresh cockles.

If you are a fan of Katong laksa, do not miss Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa that is not only more delicious but also more value for money.
